Located at 142 West Maple in downtown Birmingham, Blu Arch Collection is owned and operated by
Chuck Krause (Beverly Hills) and Betty Ruddy (Birmingham), a brother and sister team who have searched
the state and country for unique contemporary art pieces, including sculpture, vases and bowls, jewelry,
furniture and paintings—by artists who work in wood, metal, glass, ceramic and fiber.

2012 Birmingham Store Winter Hours: Tues., Wed., Fri. 11am to 6pm  Thursday 11am to 8pm   Closed Sunday and Monday
Online Store Open 24/7
Staff: Betty Lou Ruddy, Chuck Krause, Isabel Kurkechian

Background: Art has played an important role in the lives of Ruddy and Krause. They grew up in Lake Orion in the mid 1950’s
when the modern art and furniture their parents purchased was unusual for a small town. One particular prized possession in
their family home was a marble-top Saarinen pedestal table with six tulip chairs.

Krause, of Beverly Hills, is the artist of the team. He has worked in photography, wood-turning and metal working and will
feature some of his handmade items in Blu Arch Collection. Ruddy, a writer who spent several years in New York City and is
now a resident of Birmingham, says she and her brother hope Blu Arch Collection can be a bridge between today’s artists
and the buying public.

“We search out artists who put their hearts, creativity and hard work into their pieces,” said Ruddy. “We hope to show what
the artistic imagination can produce when personal care is put into each object.”
