Susan Wills creates hand built and extruded ceramic pieces that are
functional and food safe, as well as decorative. Working predominantly with high fire stoneware, the artist uses a variety of unique glazes and slips to build interest and add texture to the clay surface. Each piece is fired twice, once to temper the ware for glazing, then a second time to over 2300° F in a natural gas kiln. Sturdy rattan handles made of imported reed and binding cane provide the final touch. Each reed is dyed to achieve a beautiful dark tone and then hand tied to accent each finished piece. 

Susan's artistic goal is to create a strong visual element, a pleasing combination of positive form and negative space. She strive to develop
a line of work that is decorative, contemporary and unsual . Such as
functional vessels that may have a bit of mystery about their actual practical purpose, or utility.
